Intersurgical supports a number of charitable missions in the developing world including 'Facing Africa' which seeks to alleviate the shocking and destructive effects of 'Noma', a horrific gangrenous infection which affects very young children in Africa. We contributed in a small way recently by donating products for the surgeons, anaesthetists and nurses of Facing Africa who regularly go on 'reconstructive missions' to help those blighted not only by the terrible pain and disfigurement of the disease itself, but by poverty and social exclusion too. A recent trip to Ethiopia enabled 42 children to benefit from the expertise and dedication of the Facing Africa team, but with only a small number of surgeons and other staff available the charity relies on donations. The next mission is planned for January 2012 and you can find out more about the great work Facing Africa do by visiting their web site.
